Most 'Competitive' Courses

This description refers to courses with special entry requirements and processes, including:

  • Oxford & Cambridge
  • Medicine and Dentistry
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Conservatoires (specialist music, drama, screen and production courses)

It’s our pleasure to support students with such aspirations and talent that these courses are in their sights. We run an additional support programme to help students with these applications, and we have very strong links with the Norfolk County ‘Most Competitive’ applications support programme (part of the HAS scheme).

Oxbridge, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine & Dentistry

The universities of Oxford & Cambridge, along with courses in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry all require a normal UCAS application to be made, but they have earlier deadlines and extra recruitment tests.

The main point of contact for these applications is Mr Pearce (pearceb@wh-at.net) , who will provide support sessions throughout the year to keep students up-to-speed on what they need to know and be doing. He will provide extra support on:

  • Personal statements
  • Interview and testing process
  • The College System
  • Submission of extra work
  • Supplementary Application Questionnaire (Cambridge only)

If students miss any of these sessions, or if they are thinking about applying to these places or courses and they haven’t spoken to Mr Pearce about it yet, they can find him or drop him an email at pearceb@wh-at.net

 Conservatoires

This is the Conservatoires UK Admissions Service (www.ucas.com/ucas/conservatoires/), which is designed to provide the facilities to research and apply for practice-based music, dance and drama courses at the 8 UK conservatoires. These applications usually have VERY EARLY deadlines.
