German

It is said that Germany is the country of poets and thinkers – Das Land der Dichter und Denker. Think Goethe, Kant, Nietzsche, Kafka, and Einstein; and of course also the country of great composers too, such as Bach and Beethoven. German is the most widely spoken first language in Europe and spoken across the continent; in Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and even northern Italy.
